Doctor Who

I’ve been re-watching some of the most recent episodes in the lead up to the 50th Anniversary. It has reminded me of just how much the show has deteriorated in the last couple of years. Most of the recent shows lack any sort of meaningful story line and certainly don’t contain any of the educational or political views presented in the earlier shows. Also it appears that Steven Moffat has decided to kill off the show earlier than might have otherwise been necessary by ‘wasting’ one of the Doctor’s twelve regenerations just for the 50th Anniversary. That means that when the Doctor regenerates again in the Christmas episode it will be for the twelfth and last time and (as we first saw in Trial of a Timelord and were reminded of in Name of the Doctor) he will abandon the name Doctor and call himself Valeyard instead.

At least there are still plenty of past episodes to enjoy that involved the second, third, first, tenth, ninth, fifth and seventh doctors. The remaining missing episodes from the first and second doctors may even be found one day.

Even before seeing the anniversary episode I somehow don’t think I’ll be watching Valeyard Who next year.
